  • To obtain your PIN code, you must activate your new UMID card at an SSS branch with an SSS-ExT.
  • The process of obtaining your UMID card PIN code can be done step-by-step, even if you’re a new member or have lost your PIN code.

What is UMID Card PIN?

The UMID card PIN code is a unique set of numeric characters that members nominate themselves to prevent unauthorized access to their UMID account. This PIN code is not found on the UMID card itself but is personally chosen by the member upon activating the card at an SSS Self-Service Express Terminal (SET).

The UMID card serves as a valid ID and a cash card that allows members to withdraw their GSIS/SSS loans or benefits. Members can also insert their UMID cards into any SSS self-service express terminal (SSS-ExT) to check their loan status and balance, view their SSS contributions, and make other types of inquiries.

In summary, the UMID card works like any other ATM card with its own PIN code for identity verification purposes.

Where is Card PIN Code Located?

The UMID card PIN code is not printed on the card itself. Instead, SSS members need to create or nominate their own 6-digit PIN code upon activation of their UMID card through the SSS self-service express terminal.

This terminal, formerly known as the SSS information terminal, is an automated machine distributed across select SSS branches.

By setting their own PIN code, SSS members can verify their identity and use the machine to make inquiries anytime. SSS is currently planning to add more services through the self-service express terminal. Soon, members will be able to generate payment reference numbers (PRN), apply for SSS salary loans, and update their contact information using the kiosks.

If SSS members opt not to set a PIN code, they can verify their identity through fingerprint instead.

UMID Card PIN Code for SSS Online Registration

SSS online registration requires a UMID card PIN code, but not everyone has it. Fortunately, there are five registration options to choose from, with UMID Card being only the third one. If UMID Card is selected, the applicant will be asked for their UMID card PIN code.

If the applicant does not have it at the moment, SSS allows them to provide their mother’s maiden name instead. This should be the name declared on their Form E6 or UMID Card Application Form.

If neither the UMID PIN code nor the mother’s maiden name is available, the applicant can go back to the previous page and select another registration option. The remaining choices include their savings account number, the mobile number they registered in SSS, employer ID, and payment reference number (PRN).

It is important to note that SSS online registration can be done without a UMID card PIN code. This is particularly useful for those who do not have the time to go to the SSS personally or are unable to do so due to unforeseen circumstances such as the pandemic.
